The State Secretariat of Public Security (Sesp) delivered, on this Friday (April 5), 60 surveillance cameras from the Vigia Mais MT Program to the Bom Futuro business group. The devices are set to be installed in eight municipalities where the company operates.
The delivery was made by the acting Deputy Secretary of Operational Integration, Delegate Valter Furtado, and the Superintendent of Ciosp and Coordinator of Vigia Mais in the State, Delegate Cláudio Álvares, to representatives of the company.
The cameras will be installed in the regions of Diamantino, Matupá, Alto Araguaia, Campo Verde, Sapezal, São José do Rio Claro, Tapurah, and Tangará da Serra.
The main focus of the monitoring will be on agro roads (transport routes for agricultural products), rural communities, and other locations where workers, their families, and small rural producers from the surroundings of Bom Futuro properties live and transit.
Leonardo Rossato, the director of the legal and administrative area of the Bom Futuro group, highlighted the trust he felt upon learning about Vigia Mais and the importance of the monitoring service aimed at public safety.
“What impressed us most about this program was the seriousness of the work. We were able to advance discussions and formalize the partnership because we saw that there was an engaged team at the Security Secretariat. This engagement, which truly prioritizes the state’s security, brought us the credibility needed to advance and implement a project of this scale in partnership with the state,” he stated.
For Leonardo Rossato, the video monitoring devices can provide safety for employees and their families.
“We have units with up to 400 employees. So, when something happens outside the gate, this integration with Sesp becomes even more important because it's the employees and their families who will be protected,” he said.
The Superintendent of Ciosp-MT and Coordinator of Vigia Mais MT, Delegate Cláudio Álvares, stated that before the Vigia Mais MT program delivers cameras to any entity, a thorough analysis is conducted to assess the social benefits that the installation of the equipment provides.
“We analyzed the installation maps prepared by you from the Bom Futuro group and saw that it covers a large area. We will practically surround all the roads in the regions and areas listed in this partnership. This is very important, especially with the use of OCR cameras, which read license plates, contributing to the actions of security forces,” detailed Cláudio Álvares.
The acting Deputy Secretary of Operational Integration, Delegate Valter Furtado, emphasized that Vigia Mais MT is a state government program whose main objective is the prevention of violence, that is, the reduction of crime rates. And, when crime occurs, to enable the identification of criminals and the production of evidence.
“We have many situations where the cameras have contributed and are contributing to the clarification of crimes. In the case of the double homicide at the Popular Shopping mall in Cuiabá, a case clarified this week with the arrest of the masterminds, the images from Vigia Mais cameras were essential in identifying the shooter. They showed the suspect entering and leaving the location,” he explained.
Partnership
Through the Vigia Mais Program, Sesp offers, at no cost, cameras of three models: fixed, speed domes, and OCRs (which allow for vehicle license plate reading), along with equipment to store images and keep them operational even during power surges (uninterruptible power supply, switches, and cabinets). The equipment comes with a three-year warranty.
The costs for installation, internet, and maintenance fall to the municipality or partner company. Sesp also provides technical support for installation, including guidance on the types of poles to be used to mount the cameras, power points, among other details.
The deadline for installation and operationalization of the cameras is 160 days from the date of equipment pickup.
With the integration with Public Security, the images captured are shared in real time on Ciosp screens and functional mobile phones. Authorized police officers and individuals designated by municipalities and other partner entities can access the platform on their phones.
