The Santo Antônio do Pantanal Production Unit, operated by Bom Futuro in Itiquira, Mato Grosso, has joined the Sustainable Pantanal Farm (Fazenda Pantaneira Sustentável – FPS), an initiative led by the Famato System aimed at advancing livestock production while supporting the conservation of the Pantanal. Participation in the project will enable the unit to be monitored through environmental, production, economic and social indicators.

The project conducts an assessment of participating production units and, based on the results, recommends actions to improve management and practices at each location. Its methodology takes into account the specific characteristics of production in the Pantanal and seeks to identify ways to increase operational efficiency while conserving the biome.

For Bom Futuro, the participation of the Santo Antônio do Pantanal Production Unit reinforces an approach that guides the company’s different areas of operation: producing responsibly while continuously seeking ways to reduce impacts and protect natural resources.

“We seek to embed sustainability in everything we do, recognizing that production also means taking care of the resources and territories where we operate. Joining the Sustainable Pantanal Farm initiative reinforces this commitment and our belief that it is possible to produce efficiently, responsibly and with respect for the Pantanal,” said Leonardo Rossato, Shared Services Director at Bom Futuro.

Participation in the program will also enable the company to track the unit’s progress through indicators and identify opportunities for improvement throughout the process. The initiative recognizes that the Pantanal’s environmental characteristics require practices suited to the biome’s unique dynamics.

“The Pantanal has unique characteristics, and producing in this region requires understanding and respecting them. Participating in the project allows us to monitor indicators, identify opportunities for improvement and continuously enhance our practices. Beyond conservation, we want to deepen our understanding of the impacts of our activities and pursue solutions that reconcile production with protection of the biome,” said Elaine Lourenço, Environmental Manager at Bom Futuro.

Developed through a partnership between the Famato System, Senar-MT, Embrapa Pantanal and Acrimat, the Sustainable Pantanal Farm initiative uses technical monitoring and performance indicators to support the management of participating production units.

With the Santo Antônio do Pantanal Production Unit now participating in the project, Bom Futuro is expanding initiatives aimed at making production increasingly aligned with the characteristics of the territories where it operates, seeking to combine productive efficiency, environmental conservation and long-term development.
